MediaTek Acquires More IP Rights from IBM
December 30, 2005
MediaTek announced on December 28 that it has acquired 180 patents and patent applications from IBM for a price of about NT$300 million. Technologies covered by these patents can be used in DVD recorders, digital televisions, and multimedia handsets. This is the second patent transaction between the two companies in the span of several months, with the first one being reported in Asia Express on October 7.
